Sportshall Athletics final - Wednesday 1st December
Our team of 30 x Y6 children returned to the Dolphin Centre a week later to take part in the finals of the Sports Hall Athletics. The standard of competition was very high, with the children having to really push themselves in each event. At the end of the morning, we had finished 5th overall, but were only 10pts from 3rd place.
Once again the children were a credit to the school. Well done!
November 2021
Primary Basketball Plate- Tuesday 9th November
On Tuesday morning, 9 x Y5 children attended a fun Basketball Plate competition at Longfield School. They got the opportunity to play in some semi competitive games and learnt plenty of new skills. A great morning out was had by all!

Sportshall Athletics - Wednesday 24th November
30 x Y6 children went to the Dolphin Centre on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the Sports Hall Athletics. They all performed brilliantly and finished 2nd (out of 7) to qualify for the finals. Most importantly, they showed incredible teamwork, always being supportive of each other - and also other schools and athletes. They were a credit to the school; Mr Garmston was very proud of them.

Boys Tag Rugby - Tuesday 5th October
30 x Y6 boys went to Darlington Rugby Club to take part in a tag rugby tournament. Even though many of the boys had only just learnt how to play tag rugby in their PE lessons, the standard of play was very high. The ‘A’ team finished 1st so qualified for the finals, scoring lots of brilliant tries. The ‘B’ team finished a brilliant 5th overall and the ‘C’ team finished a highly commendable 10th.
All the boys who took part demonstrated great teamwork and gave lots of effort. Well done!
Girls Tag Rugby - Thursday 7th October
30 girls from Y6 went to Darlington Rugby Club to take part in a tag rugby tournament. Many of the girls had never played before, so they had a brilliant time, performed really well and learnt lots. Out of 12 teams in total, the ‘A’ team finished 3rd overall - a fantastic achievement. The ‘B’ team finished 8th and the ‘C’ team finished 11th.
It was brilliant to have so many girls representing the school. Well done to all who took part so enthusiastically!
Boys Tag Rugby Finals – Monday 11th October
The ‘A’ team returned to Darlington Rugby Club to take part in fiercely competitive finals day! They won their qualifying group playing some fantastic rugby along the way. In the final group they finished an amazing 3rd overall, level on points with the teams who finished 1st and 2nd. They only lost out on the number of tries scored.
Even though the boys were disappointed with 3rd, they were still very proud of their efforts and their attitude was brilliant. Fantastic achievement!
Tees Valley Cross Country - Wednesday 13th October
8 children went to Stewart’s Park in Middlesbrough to represent Darlington in the Tees Valley Cross Country. They all performed brilliantly! Overall, we had 2 x top 10 finishes, 4 x top 20 finishes and, in an amazing feat, we even had a first place as Louis from Y5 won his race!
Well done to everyone who tried so hard!

Cross Country - Thursday 30th September
On Thursday 30th September 29 junior children represented Mowden at the Annual Darlington Primary Schools Cross Country, the first one since 2019!!. After a fabulous afternoon of running and great amounts of effort there were 9 children in total who finished in the top 10 of their age group. Those children will therefore represent Darlington Schools in the upcoming Tees Valley Cross Country Event, a brilliant achievement. We even had a joint first place in one of the most exciting finishes to a race EVER!
We are particularly proud of the children for being so supportive of not just their teammates, but other year group teams from Mowden, and also other runners from other schools.
We are now eagerly awaiting the team results!
A massive well done.
