Year 6 Visit to the UTC

Year 6 children have recently been visiting the South Durham UTC in their bubbles. Here's report from one of those classes.
On Friday, Class 21 visited UTC South Durham where they took part in the ICE Bridge for Schools event. The children thoroughly enjoyed the morning session which gave them an insight into the civil engineering industry and the opportunity to build a Cable-stayed bridge. They learned that this type of bridge is one where the weight of the deck is supported by a number of diagonal cables in tension running directly to some vertical towers.
Class 21 showed some great skills:
• Communication
• Teamwork
• Leadership
• Organisation
• Perseverance
It was a fantastic morning and the bridge was a success. Every member of the class managed to walk across it!
